Marxist Econ Analysis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Marxist Econ Analysis - Essay ExampleMoney and commodity are considered as value forms or means by which a value may exist and this is quite analogous to pointing out that the value placed on gold is equal to the value placed on commodity once the money is utilized to purchase the commodity. In the process, money translates itself to commodity in value so despite the absence of literal transformation, the metaphor with value works to convert money as one form of value to commodity as an different. This is fundamentally why Marx finds it conducive to begin with commodities as groundwork for discourse on capital. If commodity runs out of value, the making of capital, which also depends on the projected output, would be insignificant. To Marx, in the building of an identity as a capitalist, one works under circumstances of trade in which a capital initially bears no potential drop but is gradually generated as long as negotiating equivalents involving commodities takes place. (2) What is the distinction that Marx makes between use-value, exchange-value, and value? On exchange-value, Marx claims that exchange-value appears to be something accidental and purely relative, and consequently an intrinsic value. Marx additionally points out that there emerges contradiction in scathe attached to the exchange-value where exchange-value is expected to be similar with commodities of interest though it functions in another domain. In other words, while exchange-value may be expressed through a specific commodity, its evaluation cannot be based solely on objects of trade common to it. As such, during exchange, a value of a set of goods or service may reflect the value of a different set of goods or service and the coarseness in the reflection of their worth only works in processes bounded by the exchange or trade in occurrence. On the other hand, use-value is fundamentally perceived as the value of something that is found in its use. Eventually, Marx provides the correspo nding definition stating that The utility of a thing makes it a use-value where he adds Being limited by the physical properties of the commodity, it has no existence apart from that commodity. So, use-values would only materialize when the product undergoes consumption or utilization so that its value is identified via utility or certain characteristics for which it is taken advantage of. Through Marxs labour theory of value, an economic value is inherent in objects remains constant despite changing demand, the passage of time, and other factors and can be objectively determined by calculations based upon some fundamental scientific principle. However it takes effect, as long as it is intrinsically built on commodity, value would keep its essence whether it shrinks or expands in magnitude. It turns out that value is what something means to someone in simple terms and the meaning of a commodity on the basis of its known economic significance or social relevance serves as its value. (3) Is value an inherent piazza of all things produced in every mode of production? In other words, does value exist in non-commodity producing economies? For Marx, the

Warner Bros - Research Paper ExampleAlthough Warner Bros. is presently a passing successful company, it has experienced various difficulties in the past considering that its initiation was never smooth sailing. Being the only company alongside MGM amongst the Big quint to avoid financial collapse throughout the Depression, it was adverse to MGM in a material body of ways. Whereas MGM had remained deluxe during the Depression, Warners managed to survive through siphoning off approximately one-quarter of its total assets during early thirties and by establishing a mentality that was ruthlessly cost-efficient, as well as factory-oriented mass-production. That symbolized stretched budgets on all features, a more re-organized studio operation, reduction in dumbfound personnel, together with a highly formulaic, as well as routinized tackling of its films and filmmaking. This resulted in Warners splitting its output almost evenly between the A-class star vehicles and a truelove output of B pictures. Warners B picture could not be mistaken for anything else furthermore, in most cases, Warners often allocated their mid-range stars such as Ann Sheridan and Humphrey Bogart unto low-budget jobs, thereby immediately suspending them if they attempted to balk (Gino, Simone, Lars, Florian 13). Warners happened to be the only family-run studio amongst the Big Five, with the company president Harry M. Warner who was the elder sibling, perceived as the most cost-conscious amongst the Big Five chief executives. On the other hand, the younger brother, i.e. Jack Warner, managed the studio-factory while filmmaking operations were under the supervision of two longtime studio executives with Hal B. Wallis overseeing the production of all A-class pictures, whereas Bryan Foy controlled Warners B-picture production. Although Wallis off-key out to be an able administrator who was certainly competent as a creative executive, he was not as competent as Darryl Zanuck, who was his fore runner at production chief at Warners, who ascended through the screenwriting positions to executive status. Wallis depended on a staff of associate producers, who did not have the capability of receiving screen quotation until 1942 yet wielded extensive authority over A-class production at Warners. A number of them notably Henry Blanke, Mark Hellinger, Robert Lord and Jerry Wald were either former directors or writers, thereby getting close involvement in all phases of production. Apart from that, Warners had a staff of competent, effectual directors, such as Michael Curtiz, William Keighley, William Dieterle, Raoul Walsh and Lloyd Bacon. A small number of them had considerable power over particular star musical genre formulations, for instance Curtiz on the Flynn vehicles and Lloyd Bacon on Cagneys action pictures (Sandler 34). Warners strategy of depending on half-dozen star genre formulas for its A-class pictures started to change in the prewar era due to various reasons. In l ate 1939, Paul Muni departed from the company so as to seek freelance status thereby letting Edward G. Robinson to be in charge as resident biopic star whereas the studio brass re-evaluated their commitment to the genre. In the meantime, there was the move of musical production owing to the defection of Busby Berkeley to MGM. Moreover, Warners responded to the even more competitive market by modifying its formulas, as well as by

Both feasibility and builders cost are usually addressed in an architectural design, and the function and aesthetics of a user is considered an brilliance factor in its planning. Volume, light, shadow, texture, and space are often manipulated during the planned architecture, and Sometimes, pleasing aesthetics are achieved by abstracting different and diverse elements artistically. Many architectural kit and caboodle has been represented as a cultural and political symbol in todays world. The Pantheon on top of the Acropolis in Greece, the Colosseum in Italy, Hadrians Villa at Tivoli, and Taj Mahal at Agra in India are some of the many architectural designs and structures that represent the architectural history of their age.The architectural history begins with the needs aroused, such as security, shelter, worship, etc, and means, which were easy at that time, for example, skilled persons, building materials, machineries, etc. An architectural expertise was evolved through the oral civilizations and practices of human beings, in order to progress and improve their knowledge to grapple in this world. In many ancient civilizations, the architecture was deemed as a reflection of connectivity with the divine power and supernatural command. However, the power of the state or the principle was represented by the complex and beautiful architectural designs and structures at that time. As the civilizations changed, traditions and customs evolved, people developed themselves and transformed themselves into urban form, hence, the architectural field progressed, and a need to divide it was fe lt. In order to understand the architectural importance and settle in the society, we will try to understand and discuss the Italian Architecture from its different perspectives and buildings that were strengthened by the different emperors of that time. When we talk about the Italian Architecture, one can say that it owns a distinctive mixture of divinity, uniqueness, and power that were gained by the kings and rulers of that era. One of the many examples of this renowned architecture era is the Villa Rotonda at Vicenza, Villa Emo, Osborne House, etc. , which are the true examples of the fine Italian Architecture. In order to understand the Italian Architecture, we will comprehend the structural and historic significance of the two Italian buildings, that is, Hadrians Villa, and Villa Rotonda in the Italy. We will try to compare and contrast these two historical buildings, relating to the architects that built these buildings. Its design, the period, and the historical context wil l also be considered during this study. We will also try to analyze the ideas and concepts that are underlying these buildings. Illustration of any historical precedent that might have influenced their design will also be explained during the study. We will try to discuss the building elements and materials that were during their construction, and different modes of technology that were required by the architects in that century will also be considered in a detailed section of this study. In the early second century, there was an emperor Hadrian, who built a large Roman villa, which was called as Villa Hadriana of that time. Accordingly, now it is know as Hadrians Villa. This villa is one of the finest architectural and structural designs that have been built by the emperors in beautiful cities of Italy. An vault of heaven of at least 100 hectares or 250 acres has been covered by a sumptuous complex of over 30 buildings. Excluding this area, unexcavated area of 300 more hectares is a lso considered the part of this villa. In this regard, a place for the World Heritage Site has been given by the UNESCO. At the time of the emperor butterfly Hadrians life, this villa is considered as his preferable residency, whenever he was found to be in the Rome. There are several reasons of choosing an imperial palace outside Rome, rather than deviation for several other palaces that have been built by him and other emperors. Some miserable relations with the senate and the local Roman aristocracy were the primary cause of this influence for an imperial palace outside the city. Accordingly, the imperial residence was the Villa Hadriana. The ancient Tibur, which is now known as Tivoli has this villa built, and which is 28 kilometers away from the Rome. Two minor tributaries are ring this villa, which has been built on a hillside. It was built in such a way that a person can reach the villa by land or by boat very easily, via Tiburtina and via Aniene respectively. The travertine quarries, ample supplies of tufa, and unlimited lime was another significant reason of choosing this location of the villa, as these materials were used in the production of cement. The bring up was also very abundant in the water resources. Therefore, baths were also built inside the villa, which needed vast amounts of water. A traditionally structured villa can be seen in the central part of this palace. A garden with an elongated fountain was included in this villa. Two buildings were also built by the emperor, which were known as Latin library and Greek library. The main residential part of the palace included a large courtyard and a unique building having doric columns in them. Portico and richly adorned rooms were built inside another grand court, which was known as Golden Court, as it was having very rich finds in it. A series of underground roads, storage facilities, passages, and slave quarters have also been built much below the surface of this villa. In order to live su ch a huge complex, most of the infrastructure was tucked away neatly, which as another uniqueness of this villa. However, even from the above findings and observations of the architects, it is still very wakeless to create the appearance of the villa, that it used to be at the time of the Emperor Hadrian, as all the upper parts of the various buildings have been loss during eld and wars occurred in the region. Another uniqueness of the Villa Hadriana is its collection of rich monuments, which were brought from various parts of the Roman empire of that time. The display of this rich collection was a symbol of husbandry and learnedness among wealthy Roman Emperors of that time, especially the emperors, who ruled in the first and second century BCE. Some influences can be found from the two buildings of Marcus Tullius Cicero academe and Lyceum, which were famous for their philosophical education in the ancient Greece. Similarly, an area called Syracusa was found to be in the residenc e of Augustus, which also played an influential part in the various buildings that were built in the Hadrians Villa. There are some associations of this Hadrians villa with some ideas, which were taken by the previous emperors of that time. However, it is not possible to identify every association due to the dispersion of the artistic elements of the original villa that were built by the emperor. A famous monument in the ancient Athens was Stoa Poikile that was multicolored colonnade, and therefore, the Poikile of the Hadrians villa has been associated with this Greek monument.

Adidas Smoking Campaign Essay Example for Free

Adidas Smoking Campaign EssayAdidass latest anti- smoke campaign features three cigarette butts layed out in a white emphasize in the style of its logotype, which includes their motto undoable is nothing. As adept of the largest suppliers of athletic gear, Adidas looks to not only promote greater advantages in sports recreation, but in addition in dear health. The communicator in the ad is the company Adidas, the primary audience would be smokers out there, but this center also applies to each athletes and athletic individuals. The message and purpose of the ad includes the point that people who are smoking always reach the option to quit, and as their motto implies, impossible is nothing. Normally, their motto is attributed to the fact that it is not impossible to try new things and go new depths in sports, and in this case it is saying that it is not impossible to quit smoking.Indeed, Adidas argues a legitimate point, sending a positive message to society, and one s hould strive to spread a similar message. Accordingly, the ad campaign utilizes a series of rhetorical strategies to successfully grasp the readers attention. These rhetorical strategies involved in the ad are what bring out it a powerful message. Primarily, the visual representation is setup to make the message really clear. The ad brushes upon the pathos aspect of rhetoric to grab the viewers attention. Making a statement such as impossible is nothing and displaying the butt ends of lit out three cigarettes with one cigarette three quarters of the way lit finished, to the second that is almost finished to the filter, and the threesome that is finish all the way.See more Old Age Problem essayThis is done purposely as practically everyone recognizes the Adidas logo, and can instantly behold the message behind the ad. The ethos, or the aspect of credibility in this ad lies in the fact that Adidas is a big brand name, its products are widely purchased all over the world and its mot to is recognized globally. In this respect, the audience witnesses two different ideas being presented to them at the equivalent time the symbolism behind the Adidas logo that allows the viewer to conjure the image of sports, and the lit out cigarette butts in association with their motto, which make it quite clear that this is an anti-smoking campaign.Their message as a sports group is the fact that impossible is nothing, and this concept is meant to apply to dedicating to new endeavors in sports, and is quite often applied to life in general. In this specific ad campaign, smoking is not impossible. Surely, quitting smoking is most certainly possible and there are many living examples of them today. For instance, my interview with Michael Dempster, a sophomore at Drexel University proves that it is in fact quite possible to quit smoking. Michael mentioned that ever since he got involved with the different sports programs offered at Drexel, such as intramural basketball and the gy m that is on tap(predicate) for convenient hours during the day and night, he was smoking less and less until the habit completely left him.It is inspiring and appropriate in the sense that Michaels spirit level applies to the topic of sports and athletics and how there is an inverse correlation between sports and smoking. One promotes good health small-arm the other mars it. Michael mentions it felt pretty good to lay off the smoking, and getting involved in an active lifestyle (Dempster). He adds that smoking always made (him) feel short of breath while a good days workout helped (him) breath more smoothly (Dempster). From the perspective of blogger Zoe Colton, the viewers of the ad see the cigarette butts in stages, and implies that quitting smoking is a process and should not be all at once (Colton). Colton also feels that the Adidas Company promotes healthy image of athletic gear and that they care more or less the health of the customers. She also mentions how the ad is re vealing how it not only promotes a smoke-free lifestyle but it also shows how health equals power (Colton).Furthermore, there lead been many researches done and papers written regarding the very topic of smoking. According to Terri Pettinger, a researcher in the field of health studies at the Alliant International University, tail smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the world (Pettinger). Not only is this a ubiquitous fact, but it is the one of most usually ignored health warnings in todays society. It is due to these reasons that the audience is being reminded by companies such as Adidas that there are always amend alternatives, such as sports. Adidas is known for being a global promoter of health, and often reveal studies that reveal how sports can lead to an increase in ones lifespan. Quite interestingly, Pettinger mentions smoking accounts for an average reduction in lifespan of 13.2 years (Pettinger). There are many people out there that have stopped smoking due to a variety of reasons, including societal issues such as second hand smoke which is harmful to the community, and also ones family if the habit is common inside households. Of the numerous reasons for people to stop smoking, ones own health remains the primary reason for most, and should be a consideration. Adidas touches upon the heart of this issue, by making it personal for the individual viewer, and treating the advert as if it were one of its new sports releases such a shoe or a ball. notwithstanding as a new brand name shoe speaks individually to the viewer, and assures him/her that they must own a pair of them, the message of quitting smoking speaks in the same manner.Works CitedDempster, Michael.
